ONE Wilmington Policy & Advocacy Roundtable

Policy & Advocacy Roundtable: ONE WILMINGTOn

ONE Wilmington is made up of residents, churches, and community groups working together for our city to become ONE Wilmington. We believe that for too long, Wilmington has been divided by race and income. As the revitalization of the city gets underway, we have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to end this history of division and become ONE Wilmington, a city with a vibrant downtown where every neighborhood is a good place to grow up, with access to an excellent education, great parks, and quality housing, that is home to people of all backgrounds and income levels.

There is a common misconception that nonprofits cannot advocate around policy change because of their tax status. However, there are many ways for nonprofits to engage in this process. This roundtable event will discuss how we can:

1. Create a space to lift up the racial economic inequalities in Wilmington and explore how nonprofits could lean into the policy and advocacy space to address these challenges;

2. Engage local nonprofits, policy makers and other stakeholders in Wilmington to engage in advocacy work;

3. Explore current campaigns and activities underway that you can engage in; and

4. Explore best practices for ensuring community voice is heard in policies put forward

Join us to learn how we can create a more unified and equitable Wilmington!
